Our trainer, Mr Youssef Almia, opened by explaining the problems that led to the creation of GitHub. He then walked us through initializing a git project, the concept of branches, saving changes with commits, merging, and linking a local repository to its remote counterpart, plus the rest of the GitHub feature set.

Planned in conjunction with the IEEE Tunisia Section, the PES Tunisia Section, and the IEEE ESSTHS, ISSIM, ESPRIT, INAT, ENICARTHAGE, ISI and ISTIC student branches, this edition of PES Day took place online from 14 to 19 April as part of the Tunisia Energy Gathering (TEG). The week was packed with terminology sessions from multiple presenters, covering climate change and the value of women's contributions to the renewable energy industry.

conferenceParticipation in IASTAM
The IAS/IES/PES members took part in the IAS annual meeting at the Orient Palace hotel in Sousse, entering the non-technical challenge with our IASTAM hosting proposal. Alongside the challenge, attendees enjoyed workshops and industrial visits, networked with members from other student branches, and the results were revealed on the third and final day.

A 30-minute session on Google Meet clarifying every crucial point: the venue, the timing, and the activities planned for the event. The presenters made it clear that an organizing committee was required, and that for better structure the team would be split into sub-groups, all detailed and explained during the presentation.

Our ambassador Zeineb Kharrat presented the IEEE ESPRIT IAS/IES/PES chapter and referenced our previous honours and occasions. She went on to describe the upcoming PES TGM event, including its time, date, cost and location, and the audience had the chance to ask questions, which were gladly answered.

otherBrighten Up The Future
Together with the ESSTHS SB PES chapter, the ESSTHS SB WIE affinity group and the ESPRIT SB WIE affinity group, we hosted one of the most extraordinary kids living in SOS Mahres for the final iteration of Brighten Up The Future. Two exercises ran concurrently: college-aged kids learned about climate change and the importance of energy while younger ones, aged 4 to 7, played a game. After a break everyone rotated through the other sessions, with some receiving Python training and others an introduction to artificial intelligence. The day closed in an open space with the art the little kids had created, Arabic songs, short plays and darbouka dances.

talkIAS/IES/PES Info Session
The chairwoman introduced herself and her executive board, then Mr Ala Chalghaf introduced the IEEE organization before going deeper into the IAS and IES chapters. The audience was not afraid to ask questions, which were graciously answered. Finally Mr Mouhamed Achraf Zribi introduced the guests to the PES chapter and described the technical terms and concepts new members should be aware of. The session closed with the declaration of the IAS/IES/PES joint chapter, attended by more than 30 guests from IEEE and non-IEEE backgrounds.

conferenceParticipation in PES TGM
The IEEE ESPRIT SB took part in the PES Tunisian General Meeting, where participants discussed their suggestions for the next edition and workshops were held on machine learning, deep learning and IoT. The jury unveiled the finalists (ENIT SB, ENETCOM SB and ESPRIT SB), and on the second day, in the technical challenge, ENIG SB took first place with a prize of 1200 DT, followed by ESPRIT SB and ENIS SB.

Our speaker Mr Hedi began by explaining IoT and its history, why we need it, and its value chain and applications. He went on to discuss the problems it faces and closed by detailing the occupations and careers available in the IoT field. For the final phase, members split into teams to brainstorm an IoT idea and pitch it to the other teams.

The IAS/IES/PES joint chapter hosted a pitching workshop to teach students how to present themselves and their initiatives in front of influential individuals. Participants took part in a variety of interactive games that brought the group closer together, in a workshop full of surprises, varied themes and a real chance to learn to know oneself better.

otherExecutive Board Team Building
The executive board went on its first outing together and visited three different locations. They started with coffee and activities that let them share personal information, then tackled and resolved some work issues, headed to the Dahdah carousel to play several games, enjoyed tasty food while jogging, laughing and hanging out, and finally went out to lunch before ending the day sharing films and humorous snippets of themselves.
